What are SCFAs?Updated 2 hours ago
Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are beneficial fatty acids produced by gut bacteria during the fermentation of dietary fibers. The three main SCFAs are acetate, propionate, and butyrate. Since most people don’t produce enough butyrate (due to low fiber diets or microbial imbalances), supplementing with tributyrin delivers butyrate directly. Also, Butyrate has been shown to influence gene expression related to aging processes.
